Stuck train gates stopping traffic in Elgin
Stuck railroad gates are backing up traffic on Randall Road in Elgin and police are advising drivers to find a detour for at least another hour of the morning rush.
Elgin police alerted Canadian National of the stuck gates around 5:30 a.m. at the crossing on Randall Road between Hopps and Stearns roads and are waiting for company engineers to come fix the gates.
Police are on the scene and advising drivers to use IL-31 between Spring Street and Stearns Road instead.
Officials expect the problem to be fixed by about 7:30, but traffic congestion could last longer.
