How to keep it fair for the people
No one has been able to explain to me why young men and women serve in the U.S. military for 20 years, risking their lives protecting our freedom, and only get 50 percent of their pay, while politicians hold their political positions in the safe confines of the capital, protected by these same men and women, and receive full retirement pay after serving one term. Do any of you voting public see any thing wrong with this? Here is what I think we the people should do:
1) Get rid of all the politicians who have more than 10 years in office
2) Demand that they make it a law that there will be no more tenure and no set pensions
3) Allow a Congress person to collect a salary while in office and receive no pay when they are out of office
4) Have the Congress persons (past, present and future) participate in the Social Security system like the rest of us. And all funds in the congressional retirement fund should be moved to the Social Security system.
5) Demand that they make a law that the Social Security fund cannot be used for any other purpose.
6) Make the politicians buy their own health insurance plans, like the rest of us
7) demand that they make a law that they can no longed vote themselves a pay raise, and any pay raise must stay within the CPI.
Serving in any political office is supposed to be an honor, not a career. Our Founding Fathers envisioned citizen legislators, so our politician should serve their terms and then go home and get a job. I am a 79-year-old senior who is ashamed of what the men and women in politics have become
