Trial to begin for Wis. trader in parents’ death
MADISON, Wis. — A struggling western Wisconsin day trader accused of killing his parents is set to stand trial next month.
Eric Koula of West Salem faces two counts of first-degree intentional homicide in the deaths of Merna and Dennis Koula.
Investigators say Eric Koula called police in May 2010 to report he had discovered his parents dead in their town of Barre (BHER’-ee) home. Prosecutors contend Koula killed them three days earlier. They say he was deep in debt and hoped to profit from their deaths.
La Crosse County Circuit Judge Scott Horne has set a final motions hearing for April 4. Jury selection is scheduled to begin April 11.
Koula was originally set to stand trial this past December but the proceedings were delayed.
