Illinois Products Expo sets attendance record
SPRINGFIELD — The two-day exposition featuring Illinois-produced food, wine and agricultural products set an attendance record this year.
State officials say the Illinois Products Expo earlier this month attracted 7,718 consumers. That beats the previous two-day record of 6,566. It also tops the record of 7,681 the show set when it ran for three days.
The exposition featured products from 77 Illinois companies.
Participating companies reported $130,000 in sales. That’s up 13 percent from the previous high of $115,000.
Officials say the expo is one way the Illinois Department of Agriculture finds markets for Illinois products. It also is a way to support agriculture-based employment and to strengthen the state economy.
