Driver shot by Indianapolis police after chase
INDIANAPOLIS — Indianapolis police say an officer shot a driver who was trying to run him over after a chase with the driver going nearly 100 mph on city streets.
Police say officers forced the car to stop on the city’s west side late Monday, but the driver then tried to hit one of the officers. The wounded driver fled, crossing through a yard and returning to the street before officers were able to stop him again.
Police say the 28-year-old driver was taken to Wishard Memorial Hospital in stable condition with gunshot wounds to his right arm and left hand. Officer Kendale Adams says charges are expected against the driver.
No injuries were reported among the police officers.
