3 teens injured, 2 charged after North Aurora fight
A 14-year-old Aurora boy has been charged after police said he cut two teens with a knife during a weekend fight outside a North Aurora Popeye’s restaurant.
Police responded to the parking lot of Popeye’s, 414 S. Lincolnway St., at about 9:17 p.m. Friday for a report of a large fight.
Officers found two victims, a 16-year-old North Aurora boy and a 15-year-old DeKalb boy holding up a second 15-year-old from DeKalb who was unable to stand due to injuries suffered in the fight, according to police.
Police said the victim who could not stand was jumped by an unknown number of suspects, and when the two victims who were holding him up had come to his defense, a 14-year-old Aurora boy pulled out a knife and cut them.
The suspect cut one victim on the arm and the second on the back before fleeing, according to police.
Both victims of the knife attack and the boy who was jumped were treated for nonlife-threatening injuries. The victims with cuts were treated at Provena Mercy Medical Center and released, police said.
Police located the suspect near the intersection of Exposition Avenue and Bryant Street, about a mile and a half from the scene, and later charged him with two counts of aggravated battery.
Police detained several people at the scene for questioning, and charged a second suspect, a 16-year-old Aurora boy, who was in possession of cannabis.
