Five injured in Almond Road crash near Grayslake

Five people were hurt in an early morning crash Friday at Almond Road and Route 120 near Grayslake, authorities said.

Grayslake Department Batallion Chief Jon Cokefair said one vehicle turned from Almond Road onto Route 120 in front of a second vehicle, causing the two cars to collide at 6:44 a.m.

The force of the crash caused both cars to be pushed into a ditch at the southeast corner of the intersection, Cokefair said.

Five people were hurt, but none with life threatening injuries, he said. All patients were taken to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville.

Cokefair said Almond Road was shut down for more than 90 minutes following the crash.

The Lake County Sheriff’s department said no citations were issued from the accident.
