Ÿ Janus Theatre has auditions for women between the ages of 30-50 and men between the ages of 20-40 to appear in its summer stage adaptation of Jane Austen’s “Sense & Sensibility” at 10 a.m. on Saturday, March 24, the Elgin Art Showcase, 164 Division St., Elgin. Ÿ Timber Lake Playhouse has auditions for nonresident adult character actors for its summer productions of “Footloose” and “Guys and Dolls” from 2 to 5 p.m. Saturday, March 24, at the Campbell Center, 203 E. Ÿ Elgin Theatre Company has auditions for George S. Kaufman and Moss Hart’s Pulitzer Prize-winning 1930s comedy “You Can’t Take it With You” from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday, April 1, and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, April 2, at the Elgin Academy, at the corner of Kimball Street and Academy Place in Elgin. Ÿ Rising Star Theatreworks seeks for high school and college-age students to perform in at tuition-based production of “Legally Blonde: The Musical.” Auditions are from 7 to 10 p.m. Fridays, March 30 and April 6, and 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, April 7, at Vero Voce School of Performing Arts, 951 State Ave., Suite F, St. Charles. Tuition is $250 and includes six tickets and a T-shirt. Partial scholarships are available. Rising Star is also looking for a Chihuahua or similar dog and a bulldog to appear in the show. Ÿ The Naperville Art League is now accepting applications for the 27th Annual Riverwalk Fine Art Fair on Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 15-16. Participation is open to artists working in painting, drawing, sculpture, fiber, graphics, mixed media, jewelry, photography, pottery, metalwork, glass, wood, digital art and enamel. The league enforces an “originals only” policy. Applications must be submitted by Monday, April 2, with a $35 nonrefundable jury fee (a late application date is Monday, April 9, with an extra $30 fee). Ÿ Pride Films and Plays seeks entries for its second “Women’s Work Contest” for plays and screenplays written by women with lesbian characters. Winning writers get a cash prize ($400 for full-length, $100 for shorts) and the authors will be invited to Chicago for up to 10 hours of rehearsal with directors and actors from the Pride Films and Plays artistic ensemble prior to the performance. Ÿ Self Esteem for Life Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to building self-esteem among young people, seeks kids ages 8 to 20 to appear in a tuitioned-based musical theater production of “Godspell.” Participants can audition for singing, acting or dancing roles or backstage jobs.
