The Suburbs This Weekend: Oz, waffles, video music and comedy

A video game music conference, radio version of “The Wizard of Oz,” Belgium waffles and comedian Dave Attell are this weekend’s selections by Sean Stangland and Richard Battin.

Sean’s first choice is “Video Games Live,” at 7:30 p.m. Friday at the Arcada Theatre in St. Charles. Background music for video games has come a long way since the early days of “Space Invaders,” so game fanatics should love the touring and interactive concert experience. And, finally, Richard also recommends a radio re-enactment of “The Wizard of Oz” at the Oak Park Arms Sunday afternoon. Legend has it that L. Frank Baum starting telling Oz stories to children at Chicago’s Humboldt Park. Baum’s famous creation was first produced in Chicago at the turn of the last century.
