Three District 70 staffers win Character and Leadership Award

Three staff members nominated by teachers and staff in Libertyville Elementary District 70 have been honored with the 2011-12 Character and Leadership Award.

Winners were Copeland Manor custodian Maria Jimenez, Butterfield physical education teacher Pat Krech and Rockland third-grade teacher Dale List.

Jimenez was called “one of the hardest working and most conscientious of employees” by her nominators. Her kindhearted demeanor is a wonderful example for the staff and more importantly, the students.

Krech is know as a teacher who goes the extra mile, wants students to succeed, and seeks opportunities for student as well as staff involvement. He is a genuine coach, teacher, trainer, instructor, tutor and the ultimate bucket filler.

List is noted for her impressive Career Day annual event and for her involvement in the district Character Counts Committee.

She is widely known throughout the community for her involvement in civic, social and sporting groups. But it is her planning, coordination, commitment and sincere dedication to Character Counts and the themes embedded in the annual philosophies the district carries, that are a testament to who she is and all that she does for children, parents staff and clearly our overall learning community.

Nominations are made to the Character Counts committee, which is made up of staff from each school.
