Lombard Garden Club offers college scholarship for 2012 high school graduate

The Lombard Garden Club Scholarship Committee is organized and ready for applications for the $1,000 scholarship offered by the Garden Club. Ginny Carlson is the coordinator of the committee and hopes the Lombard high school seniors home-schooled students, and students currently enrolled in a college program of environmental science, ecology, or horticulture, will take advantage of this offer.

The Garden Club began the scholarship program in 1982 when they awarded a $50 scholarship. The 2012 prize is valued at $1,000. The requirements for applying for this award are : Must be a Lombard resident, maintain a C average or better, can show financial need, is involved in extracurricular activities, and is hoping to pursue a course in ecology, environmental science, or horticulture.
