Auditions in Palatine for 'Avenue Q' April 1 and 2

Music On Stage (MOS), winner of the Illinois Theatre Association's Excellence in Theatre award, will hold auditions for the Chicago premiere of the Tony Award-winning "AVENUE Q" from 6 – 10 p.m. on Sunday, April 1, and Monday, April 2, at Cutting Hall*, 150 E. Wood Street, in Palatine.

A long-running Broadway hit, AVENUE Q is part flesh, part felt and packed with heart. It is a laugh-out-loud musical that tells the timeless story of a recent college grad named, Princeton, who moves into a shabby New York apartment all the way out on AVENUE Q. There, he meets Kate (the girl next door), Rod (the Republican), Trekkie (the internet ‘sexpert'), Lucy the Slut (need we say more?), and other colorful types who help Princeton finally discover his true purpose in life!

MOS is seeking to cast strong character actors/singers who will also manipulate their character/puppets. Callbacks, which will be by invitation only, will be Tuesday, Apr. 3, beginning at 7 p.m. at Cutting Hall. Mark Mahallak is the show's director, with music direction by Ann Stewart. There will be eight performances of AVENUE Q from June 2 - 17, 2012. Performances will be Friday and Saturday evenings, as well as a Sunday matinee.

Those auditioning should be prepared to perform 32 bars of a song from the AVENUE Q score, or sing something in a character voice. An accompanist will be provided.

Appointments for auditions will be accepted beginning Monday, March 19, by calling 847-526-6077.

* Cutting Hall is a facility of the Palatine Park District.
