Flag flown in war zone honors Arlington Hts.' 125th
U.S. Army Capt. Court Harris sent an American flag home from Afghanistan to honor the 125th anniversary of Arlington Heights.
His parents, state Rep. David Harris and Michelle Harris, presented the flag, which flew over Camp Arena at Herat, Afghanistan, to the village board Monday night.
Court Harris served on the Arlington Heights Youth Commission when he was a student at St. Viator High School, and he had the flag flown in Afghanistan on Jan. 18, the date of the village's incorporation.
“Please display it as a symbol of all the heroes — especially Arlington Heights natives and residents — who have given the ultimate sacrifice in defense of our great country,” Court Harris wrote in an email to his parents, which he asked them to relay to the board.
