Carpentersville family displaced by fire
A Tuesday afternoon fire that started in a Carpentersville bedroom left the family’s home uninhabitable, according to fire officials.
Firefighters responded to the home on the 500 block of Waco Lane at about 3:30 p.m. and found the occupants outside, but a rear bedroom engulfed in flames, officials said.
The fire was mostly contained to the rear bedroom of the ranch-style house, but the rest of the home suffered smoke damaged, said Carpentersville Fire Department Batallion Chief Todd Middendorf.
Firefighters had the blaze under control in about 15 minutes with the help of crews from the Algonquin, East Dundee, West Dundee and Rutland-Dundee departments.
The cause of the fire remained under investigation Tuesday night.
Investigators estimated the damage to the structure at $30,000 and $5,000 to the contents of the home, Middendorf said.
Nobody was hurt in the fire, and the Red Cross was assisting the displaced family who is staying with relatives in the area, officials said.
