Lombard Fire Chief search continues, Howell will serve as interim chief

LOMBARD, Illinois—After a nationwide search, 53 resumes and six interviews for a new Fire Chief in Lombard, the decision to begin the search process again has been made since an ideal candidate for the position was not found.

Assistant Fire Chief Jerry Howell will serve as interim Fire Chief for the next several months. A second nationwide search will begin within the next three months.

“Since we did not find an ideal candidate to lead our Fire Department, it is better to see what candidates enter the market in the near future and begin the search process again at that time,” said David Hulseberg, Lombard Village Manager.

“Our first round of candidates did not match what our needs are,” he added, “so I feel it is better to delay the process until a suitable candidate is identified.”
