Wolves win; Express falls in OT
The Chicago Wolves scored three times in the first period and held off a rally by the host Toronto Marlies to earn a 3-2 victory Sunday night at Ricoh Coliseum.
Forwards Bill Sweatt and Michael Davies and defenseman Kevin Connauton scored for the Wolves, who opened a 2-point advantage over the Peoria Rivermen for first place in the AHL’s Midwest Division.
The Wolves close their three-game road trip against the Lake Erie Monsters on Thursday at Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland.
Titans 5, Express 4 (OT):
The Chicago Express struck twice in the final four minutes to force overtime before the Trenton Titans won 5-4 at the Sears Centre.
The Express had two great chances to score in the overtime.
But Titans goalie Dace Caruso came up with two outstanding plays to keep the game tied.
Andy Bohmbach then won an offensive zone faceoff back to Ray DiLauro, whose slap shot from the left point snuck just inside the goal post to lift the Titans to the victory.
