Visitation curbed at Cook County jails

The Cook County Department of Corrections is limiting visitations for detainees in three of its housing facilities in Chicago in an effort to curb the spread of an influenza-like illness.

Cook County Sheriff Tom Dart said Saturday in a press release that the measures were taken in consultation with staff at Cermak Hospital. Currently, all detainees in Division 1, located at 2600 S. California Ave. will not be allowed visitors at this time. Meanwhile, limited visitations are allowed at Division 4 and 5, which are located at 2800 S. Sacramento and 2700 S. California aves., respectively. Visitors are asked to first call the Cook County Sheriff’s Office at (773)674-7244 to confirm that the detainee will be allowed visitors.
