Schneider able to get things done

I reside in the 10th congressional district and have been inundated with mailings and calls against candidate Brad Schneider for having supported Republicans in the past. Although I plan to vote in the Democratic primary, I consider myself an Independent who wants to see candidates elected who are willing to cross the aisle and work together for the common good. Gridlock in Washington needs to end and this election cycle is our chance to put candidates in office who are committed to fiscal responsibility while not eviscerating our social net.

The negative messages started with a flier two weeks ago from candidate Ilya Sheyman who criticized Mr. Schneider for his campaign donations. Since then, I have received numerous robocalls from someone identifying himself as Jordan who gives a nearly identical message that Mr. Schneider associates with right ringers who work against a liberal agenda.

In one message. Jordan says that he is from MoveOn.org and in the next message from the US Action Fund for the True Majority. He claims that his organization is not identified with any particular campaign, however his message appears the same as Mr. Sheyman’s.

In the meantime, I have been reading about all four candidates in this race and listened intently to the candidate forum hosted by Phil Ponce on WTTW’s Chicago Tonight. I was impressed by all four running for this office, including Mr. Sheyman, who seems to be a bright young man. However, his negative flier and the subsequent barrage of calls have helped my decision that I do not want to send him to Congress to be yet another obstructionist.

I am looking for a candidate that can be counted on to act with maturity and cooperation. Someone has been spending a lot of money to have the opposite effect than they obviously intended. Mr. Schneider is looking awfully good for his apparent willingness to work with legislators from both parties to get things done.
