Elected leader who’s not out of touch
Elected leader who’s not out of touch
Voters commonly complain that elected officials are disengaged from the people they are elected to represent. Who among us has not felt that Springfield often seems oblivious to our concerns over Illinois’ abhorrent fiscal condition, dismal economy, and recurrent corruption?
Thankfully, not all of our representatives are out of touch. In his first term as a state representative, Chris Nybo has gone to remarkable lengths to keep his finger on the pulse of the community he serves. Even before taking office, Representative Nybo assembled a Legislative Advisory Committee consisting of over 70 volunteer citizens from a variety of backgrounds, organized into six subcommittees on Business and Economic Affairs, Senior Citizen Concerns, Social and Human Services, Education, Environmental Concerns, and State Finances and Accountability.
These dedicated volunteers from the community research issues and give Chris valuable insights to help him better serve the needs of the individuals and families in his district. How many other legislators go to such effort to stay abreast of the concerns that weigh on the minds of their constituents?
In recent months I have come to know Representative Nybo very well, and in my view he is one of the brightest, most clear-thinking and energetic persons I have ever encountered. He has a laserlike focus on representing the people of his district, restoring fiscal sanity, and bringing jobs back to Illinois. His honesty and integrity would make Abe Lincoln proud. Illinois needs him. I encourage you to vote for Chris Nybo for the Republican nomination for State Senator for District 24.
