Pedestrian killed by train in Arlington Heights
A pedestrian was struck and killed by a commuter train Friday evening in downtown Arlington Heights.
Police received the call of a person being struck at 5:17 p.m. Metra spokesman Michael Gillis said Train 631, which was outbound on the Union Pacific/Northwest Line, was involved. The express train from the Ogilvie Transportation Center stopped at the Clybourn station and was en route to Barrington but was not scheduled to stop in Arlington Heights, he said.
Service was interrupted for about 90 minutes, but Gillis had no further information. Unofficial reports said it was a man who was struck.
Police said no other information was available late Friday night.
