No GOP politician ever said that

What Frank Sears had to say in Fence Post on Feb. 28 is a great example of one of my favorite words: balderdash. Mr. Sears states erroneously that Republican politicians such as Eric Cantor, Jim DeMint, Bob Dold and Mitt Romney want to deny women the right to practice contraception. No Republican politician has ever suggested that. What they do say is that if they want to use contraceptives, do it and pay for it themselves. Don’t expect other people’s money (taxes) to pay for it. Mr. Sears states, “It is the position of the Republican party and its politicians that women must not be allowed that procedure (contraception).” That, Mr. Sears, is outright mendacity. You can’t give an example of one Republican politician who would deny women (or men) the right to use contraceptives.

He then proceeds to suggest in the remainder of his missive that Republicans are on a mission to subjugate women to second-class citizenship, bemoaning the fact that they are allowed to vote and drive cars.

In short, Mr. Sears appears to be mendaciously spewing balderdash.
