Smoke from controlled burns no cause for alarm

Prairie areas around the suburbs, especially in parks and forest preserves, are undergoing controlled burns this time of year, often creating concern among residents who notice smoke.

Among those occurring Thursday, for example, was one in the morning in the 2300 block of Hassell Road in Hoffman Estates.
