Rob Madore’s goaltending sparks Chicago Express to victory

The Chicago Express parlayed some outstanding goaltending into a 3-1 victory over the Wheeling Nailers on Wednesday night at the Sears Centre Arena in Hoffman Estates.

Express goalie Rob Madore (34 saves) turned away 19 shots in the first period, including a pair of point-blank breakaway opportunities.

With just over three minutes left in the first period, Max Gratchev fed Scott Wietecha for a power-play goal.

After the Nailers tied the game in the second period, Darcy Campbell of the Express scored the eventual game-winner. Danick Paquette scored to give the Express some insurance with 3:20 left in the game.
