Wis. judge to consider agreement about recall date
MADISON, Wis. — A Wisconsin judge will be asked to sign off an agreement that would make May 8 or June 5 the dates for six Republican recall elections.
The dates have been uncertain while the state Government Accountability Board requested an extension to certify recall petitions. Lawyers in the matter agreed Tuesday that the GAB should get its extension.
That would mean the elections would be May 8. However, if a primary is needed, the primary would be May 8 and the general election June 5.
Tuesday’s agreement only becomes official if a Dane County judge signs off on it at a Wednesday hearing.
Four Republican state senators face recall elections. It appears nearly certain that Gov. Scott Walker and Lt. Gov. Rebecca Kleefisch, will also stand for recall.
