Ind. woman reunited with dog missing for a year
INDIANAPOLIS — An Indianapolis woman who thought she’d never see her beloved dog again after it vanished last year is celebrating the pooch’s return.
WRTV-TV reports that Eve Dahl’s 11-year-old Westie, a female named Velcro, was returned to her earlier this month.
Workers at Indianapolis Animal Care and Control scanned a stray that had been brought in recently and found it had an implanted microchip containing Dahl’s contact information. Dahl says she’s glad she had Velcro microchipped.
She says she’d given up hope of finding Velcro after the dog vanished early last year when a gate in her yard was left open.
Dahl says Velcro was healthy when she got her back, suggesting that during her absence someone had taken care of the canine she’d raised from a pup.
