Protector of rights U.S. has breached?
So, now that the Blunt Amendment was defeated along party lines — a narrow vote of 51 to 48 that killed a measure that would have allowed employees and insurers to opt out of portions of President Obama’s health care law they found morally objectionable, where has that left us?
We now see something we never imagined — the persecution of the church in the United States and a total disregard for conscience rights, All of this in a country that once took seriously its role of protector of the very rights it has now breached.
One thing is certain, if this is not turned around, we are on a path that promises things will never be the same.
