Ho-Chunk leader to deliver Wis. tribes speech
MADISON, Wis. — A Wisconsin tribal leader is delivering the annual State of the Tribes address to the state Legislature.
Ho-Chunk President Jon Greendeer is scheduled to speak Tuesday before a joint session of the Assembly and Senate. He’s expected to discuss health care, education, economic development and other issues important to the state’s 11 tribes.
There are several ceremonies that will lead up to the address. They will include an American Indian drum and honor song, a procession outside the state Capitol and an invocation.
