Judson baseball, softball just keep winning
The Judson University baseball team is coming home on a roll.
The Eagles concluded their trip to Ormond Beach, Fla., Saturday with two more wins, beating Aquinas (Mich.) 5-2 and Ashford 8-3.
Judson has now won 12 straight, is 15-3 overall, and is now 17-0 in the last two years in Florida.
Judson scored 3 runs in the top of the eighth inning in the win over Aquinas. Matt McHenry and Tony Rallo each had 2 hits in the game. Rallo (3B) had 2 RBI while McHenry (2B) and T.J. Swank each drove in a run.
Swank picked up the win in relief of George Heller. Swank went 3 innings with 1 strikeout. Heller fanned 6 in his 5 innings.
In their final game of the trip, the Eagles’ Billy Wight ran his hitting streak to 11 straight with 2 hits. Rallo and Chris Simon each had 2 RBI. Craig Lipp picked up the win on the mound.
Judson is scheduled to host Wheaton College on Thursday.
Softball
Judson wins 2 more: Sam Gladen picked up the win in the circle and Victoria Perez had a 2-run home run to lead Judson past Sienna Heights, then Sarah Boyer picked up a complete-game shutout in the Eagles’ final game in Tucson, Ariz., a 5-0 win over Dickinson State. Emily England had a home run for Judson (8-4) in the second game. Deanna Deboscherre and Kaleigh Velasquez each had 2 RBI, while Brie DiGiola and Gladen also drove in a run each against Sienna Heights.
