Duckworth’s idea of government waste

I just got back to the U.S. and became aware of The Daily Herald’s interview with Tammy Duckworth. That interview Feb. 23 certainly helps show how completely out of touch she is with a majority of voters.

As our government sits on $15.3 trillion in debt created primarily by the massive waste and fraud in our nanny state of government goodies, Tammy Duckworth focused on how our troops in Iraq are occasionally served steak and lobster dinners as a source of government waste. She also thinks that we should kill the F-35 fighters that are critical for our national defense.

We are crushed by trillions of dollars in government waste and fraud in Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, food stamps, and welfare and this is what Duckworth focuses on? If it were not so serious, dumb, and insulting, it would be hilarious.

According to Gallop, a majority of Americans believe that our government wastes 50 percent of the money it takes from tax payers. I would be willing to bet that the vast majority of Americans believe that giving our troops in harm’s way an occasional nice dinner to offset the weeks at a time that they live on cold MREs is a good and fair investment.

And as most of our fighters are well over 25 years old and China is introducing a new generation of supersonic fighters, most Americans (that live in the real world) think the F-35 is a darn good investment to protect us.

Tammy Duckworth is dead wrong and she is completely out of touch with American values. Thanks, Daily Herald, for making that absolutely clear.
