Figure skating's Kristi Yamaguchi brings new book to Naperville
Former Olympic figure skating star Kristi Yamaguchi will be in downtown Naperville at 7 p.m. Monday, March 12, to sign her new picture book, "It's a Big World, Little Pig!" at Anderson's Bookshop, 123 W. Jefferson Ave.
The book, illustrated by Tim Bowers, is a story about dreams and new experiences.
Priority numbers to join the book signing line are available with the purchase of the author's new book from Anderson's Bookshop. The event is free.
Yamaguchi is a household name as a New York Times best-seller, gold medalist, correspondent for the "Today" show during the 2010 Olympics, 2008 "Dancing with the Stars" winner, and more.
Her first picture book, "Dream Big, Little Pig" garnered rave reviews and tremendous media attention, sold more than 15,000 copies through bookscan and debuted at No. 2 on The New York Times' best-sellers list. Her modern content coupled with a positive message makes this more than just another celebrity picture book.
Yamaguchi's new book features the persistent, dreaming-big pig, Poppy. Poppy has a new adventure in store for her: the World Games ice-skating championship in Paris.
Poppy is nervous about meeting so many new people, in a new place. But, ever courageous and supported by her family, Poppy embarks upon the exciting adventure head-on.
Poppy begins to realize that although the animals look different, act different, and are from different places, they are all the same at heart. We all smile in the same language.
