Police, family pranked with hostage call
SUPERIOR, Wis. — Police in Superior say a call about a hostage situation Monday night turned out to be a prank, but not so funny.
Officers set up a staging area near a home after getting a call about 6:30 p.m. that someone in the house was holding hostages. However, police soon found out the call was a hoax made from an Internet line. Authorities tell WDIO-TV the residents of the home were victims in the case.
Police are turning the case over to computer analysts in an attempt to track down the culprits.
