<h3 class="briefHead">Schaumburg woman dies two months after apartment fire</h3>

An 86-year-old Schaumburg woman died yesterday, nearly two months after suffering severe burns in a fire. Marjorie Brothman was in critical condition after the Jan. 7 apartment fire started in her bedroom but was pronounced dead at Loyola University Medical Center early yesterday. The death was ruled accidental by the medical examiner's office. Full story.

<h3 class="briefHead">Four people injured in St. Charles crash</h3>

St. Charles police continue to investigate a two-vehicle crash that injured four people last night. Police said a man with a child in his vehicle turned left in front of another vehicle on S. Randall Road near Prairie Street, causing the crash. All four patients were taken to Delnor Hospital in an unknown condition. Full story.

<h3 class="briefHead">Families of former Hersey students killed in war to be honored</h3>

The families of two former John Hersey High School students who were killed in Iraq will be honored with original portraits of the fallen soldiers this afternoon. God Bless the Troops will present the portraits and honor Army Maj. Paul R. Syverson III, who died in June 2004, and Army Pfc. William R. Newgard, who died in December 2006, at noon at the school. <h3 class="briefHead">Algonquin doctor delivered thousands of babies</h3>

An Algonquin doctor who practiced for 50 years and delivered thousands of babies died over the weekend. Dr. Nora K. Miller was 86. Miller, who was at one time the president of the medical staff at St. Joseph Hospital, even delivered a baby in a jail cell. "We always referred to her as a dinosaur in medicine because they don't make doctors like this anymore," said her daughter Barbara June Miller. Full story.

Dozens shave heads in support of Carol Stream student</h3>

Dozens of men women and children shaved their heads inside Evergreen Elementary School in Carol Stream yesterday to raise money for the fight against pediatric cancer. Evergreen second-grader Jack O'Donoghue, who is battling Burkitt's lymphoma, assisted with the shaving of his godfather during the event. "This is overwhelming," said Jack's mother, Dana O'Donoghue. "The support we've gotten from the community is just unbelievable." Full story.

Hawks beat Red Wings in Detroit</h3>

The Blackhawks star forwards continued to carry the team last night as Patrick Sharp and Patrick Kane each scored in the 2-1 victory of the Detroit Red Wings in Detroit. Ray Emery was once again solid in net with 23 saves. The win solidified the Hawks hold on the sixth playoff spot in the Western Conference with 15 games left to play. Full story.

Not a bad day on tap, though a bit chilly. It'll be 22.degrees when you head out the door this morning, but it'll become partly cloudy with a high of only 35 degrees when the day is done. But, don't fret about the cold because a warm up is on the way. Temperatures will drop to about 28 degrees overnight tonight, but then turn sunny with a high of 53 degrees tomorrow. Full weather.

Slick conditions are existent on the roadways this morning, and state police are warning motorists to slow down, specifically on entrance and exit ramps or bridges for the expressways. An accident has been reported at East St. Charles Road and Gary Avenue in Carol Stream and at Arbor Avenue at North Neltnor Blvd. in West Chicago. Full traffic.
