Tot Trot, Elgin Fox Trot get the whole family running

Aside from fun, running is easy, exhilarating and inexpensive. It’s also an exciting way for kids to become and stay active.

The Tot Trot will be held Saturday, May 26, at the Taylor Family YMCA, 50 N. McLean Blvd., Elgin and feature races for children ages 2 and younger, 3-year-olds and 4-year-olds.

It is designed to complement the Elgin Fox Trot races being held earlier that same day. “We’re hoping our Tot Trot Fun Runs will give even the youngest children an opportunity to run, have fun and have a rewarding experience being active,” said Kay Catlin, marketing and PR director for the Prairie Valley YMCA.

Preregistration is required and must be submitted online at pvfymca.org. The cost is $5 per registered racer.

The Tot Trot won’t begin until 10:30 a.m. for those 2 and younger. Three-year-olds will race at 11 a.m. and 4-year-olds at 11:30 a.m. For information, call (630) 503-6569.
