Submitted by City of Elgin
Cheer on this year’s runners in the 36th annual Elgin Valley Fox Trot. Now celebrating its 36th year, this popular local event offers races for all levels of competition including a 10-mile run, a 5K run and a 2-mile Walk for a Cause. The courses begin in the Center City area at Kimball and Douglas, and take runners through the historic neighborhoods as well as the winding hills and ravines of Lords Park on Elgin’s east side.
Races start at 7:30 a.m. Saturday, May 25. There will be a post-race party featuring live music from BBI, superhero face painting and balloon art for the kids, and sponsors offering sample products, raffles, games and special offers.
This year’s race is presented by the top sponsor, Chase. Chase is celebrating 40 years of business in Elgin with a whole range of community projects from their involvement with the Fox Trot to partnering with the city of Elgin and the Gail Borden Public Library to sponsor the Vietnam Traveling Wall in September.
Participants can also register in person from 6 to 7:15 a.m. at The Centre of Elgin field house, 100 Symphony Way.
Show your support by cheering the runners along the route.
