Preschoolers meet world with Elgin museum’s ‘PAWS’ programs
Submitted by Elgin Public Museum
The Elgin Public Museum, 225 Grand Blvd., offers its “PAWS” preschool program. Help stimulate a child’s natural curiosity of the diverse world around them through stories, games, crafts, songs and museum objects.
Children 3-5 years old and their caregivers are invited to these education programs from 10 to 11:30 a.m. on the third Saturday of each month. The fee is $10 per children or $8 for museum members.
The reservation and payment are due Monday prior to program. For information, contact (847) 741-6655 or russell_epm@cityofelgin.org.
This year’s theme, “Nature’s Oddities,” continues on Aug. 17 with “Shiny Sharks.” Don’t go petting a shark — their skin is covered with tiny teeth!
On Sept. 21, in “Perky Plants,” some plants eat insects, others don’t like to be touched — they actually close up — and some even smell like skunks. On Oct. 19 in “”Busy Bats,” imagine only exiting left when leaving your house, because that’s what bats do. On Nov. 16, it will be “Real Reindeer.”
To register, call (847) 741-6655 or email epm@cityofelgin.org. Space is limited, so register early. For information on Elgin Public Museum programs, visit elginpublicmuseum.org.
