Meet your candidates at League of Women Voters forum

The League of Women Voters of the Elgin Area will hold candidate forums this week in Community Rooms A-B-C at the Gail Borden Public Library, 270 N. Grove Ave., Elgin.

Candidates want to make decisions on your behalf. They want to decide how your tax dollars are best spent — let them know your thoughts. League of Women Voters of the Elgin Area presents an expanded format allowing for more in-depth and complete candidate responses to the issues facing the community. From 6 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 4, the candidate forum will feature: Chris Lauzen and Sue Kinkhamer for Kane County Board Chairman race; Thomas Hartwell and Edmund Nendick for Kane County Circuit Clerk race; Sandy Wegman and Brenda Rodgers for Kane County Recorder race; Rob Russell and Tao Martinez for Kane County Coroner race; Mike Kenyon and Jennifer Barconi for Kane County Board District 16 race; Jeffrey Meyer and Deborah Allan for Kane County Board District 17 race; Kurt Kozarek and Hidayat Kham for Kane County Board District 19 race; Cristina Castro and Henoch Fuentes for Kane County Board District 20 race; and Douglas Schenflow and Bob Getz for Kane County Board District 22 race.

From 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 6, the forum will focus on the ballot question on restricting the use of corporate, special interest and private money in political activity. The following question will be on the ballot: Should the United States Constitution be amended to limit use of corporate, special interest, and private money in any political activity, including influencing the election of any candidate for public office?

From 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 7, the candidates invited to the forum are: Peter Roskam and Leslie Coolidge for the 6th U.S. Congressional District race; Michael Noland and Cary Collins for the 22nd state Senate race; and John Walters and John Dalton for Kane County’s 16th Judicial court race.
