Learn how to take a photo self-portrait

Submitted by Side Street Studio Arts

Side Street Studio Arts, 15 Ziegler Court in downtown Elgin, will offer a “Photographic Self-Portrait Workshop” with Roberto Martinez at 7 p.m. Friday, Jan. 10. There is a suggested donation of $5.

This workshop will help participants learn how to find a comfortable area, better lighting, and the right composition, as well as offering inputs on self-portraits.

The workshop will be split into two segments, from personal self images to professional self-portrait. Martinez will be showing examples from portrait shots and self images, “selfies.” He also will feature other artist images. Martinez suggests anyone who has had troubles with these photos in the past can submit their own self images. It can be any kind of portraits — shots from party pictures to mirror selfies. Keep in mind that these photos will be shared in the workshop for examples, so keep it classy. Send your images to rob9m@yahoo.com.
