On Tuesday, April 9, Dave Bearden and Cheryl Wendt of the Elgin Symphony Orchestra will give members an update on the state of the orchestra at the weekly meeting of the Kiwanis Club of Elgin.
On April 16, the club will host its Reverse Raffle. For this event, only 100 raffle tickets at $100 will be sold. This special event will take place at 6:30 p.m. at the Hickory Stick in place of the noon meeting on that date.
On April 23, Doug Paulus, of Hampton, Lenzini and Renwick engineering firm, will give members an update on the McLean Boulevard/Route 20 bypass project.
On April 30, Beth Jareczek of Cal’s All-Star Angel Foundation will describe this South Elgin organization that grants wishes and gives financial assistance to kids fighting cancer and their families.
The Kiwanis Club of Elgin, now in its 93rd year, received its charter March 9, 1920, and serves the Kiwanis International mission, to change the world one child at a time, one community at a time. In that time, the Elgin noon club donated over one million dollars to organizations in Elgin and South Elgin.
Anyone interested in joining the club is invited to attend a weekly lunch meeting, held at noon each Tuesday at The Hickory Stick Bar & Grille Restaurant, 875 Sports Way, Elgin, at the Highlands golf course. For information, contact Karen Maki, (847) 429-5976.
