Huntley travel baseball team plans tryouts

The Huntley Red Raiders travel baseball will hold its 2014 tryouts for 8-U 17-U players on Saturday, Aug. 3, and Sunday, Aug. 4, at Tomaso Sports Park, 11950 Ackman Road in Huntley.

Players need only attend one tryout date, but are welcome to attend any number.

Arrive at least 15 minutes prior to your designated tryout time.

Specific age groups times will be posted at least one week prior to tryouts and also sent to any registered participant.

Dress in proper baseball attire, including cup and cleats. Be sure to bring your mitt, bat, and catchers gear (if available).

The organization consisting of over 75 dedicated kids who are driven to advance their baseball skills to compete at a higher level of play. The teams play in highly competitive travel baseball leagues located throughout McHenry County and the greater Chicago area, as well as select local, regional, and national tournaments. The teams have played in Cooperstown, the CABA World Series, and the USSSA National Championships.

In addition, everyone involved with Huntley travel baseball — coaches, board members, assistants, etc. — does so on a volunteer basis. In addition to helping the players develop their on-field baseball skills, the organization focuses on sportsmanship, integrity, teamwork, leadership, and citizenship.
