Fest to fill Elgin with art and music

Art & Soul on the Fox/Passeggiata & Kaleidoscope, produced by Art for All and the city of Elgin, will fill downtown Elgin with art and music on Saturday, July 28, and Sunday, July 29. on DuPage Court, Spring and Grove streets.
Free and open to the public from 11 a.m. both days, this festival offers a visually captivating environment of gifted, juried artists and handcrafted artisans working in a variety of mediums, including ceramics, fiber, glass, jewelry, metal, photography, watercolors, wood and more.
Saturday’s entertainment of singers and musicians will be brought to you by Elgin’s Cultural Arts Kaleidoscope, followed by Art for All’s Grammy-nominated Beth Patterson at 7 p.m., together with the popular Walkabout Theater. Sunday highlights include local opera, music and dance, plus the auction of the citywide outdoor art exhibit, Elgin Al Fresco-A Taste of the Arts bistro sets, festival food and more.
“What better way to spend a weekend — art, music and good food. Plus, the events profits will once again benefit scholarships for future local young artists,” said Sandy Kaptain, president of Art for All.

Street closures: Note the time line below of when the no parking signs will be posted and the roads will be closed.
No parking signs also will be placed Thursday, July 26, on Spring Street from Chicago to Fulton streets, on Grove Street from DuPage Court to Fulton, and on DuPage Street from Villa to Spring. The no parking restriction will go into effect starting at 6 p.m. Friday, July 27.
On Friday, July 27, Spring Street from Chicago to Fulton will be closed starting at 6 p.m. and will not reopen until after 8 p.m. Sunday, July 29.
On Saturday, July 28, Grove Street from DuPage Court to Fulton and DuPage Street from Villa to Spring will be closed starting at 6 a.m. and will not reopen until after 8 p.m. Sunday, July 29.
Access to the alley located south of Chicago Street will be limited to Villa and Grove. The Spring Street alley access will be closed on both sides of the street.
