Elgin site for rally, march in support of ending domestic violence

Second Baptist Church’s SAFE Ministry presents the “Do Ask, Do Tell” Domestic Violence Community Education Forum, March and Rally at 9 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 5.
The event starts at the church, 1280 Summit St., followed by the walk in downtown Elgin. To register or for details, email safe@sbcelginil.org or call (847) 695-7757. Admission is free.
From 9 to 10:30 a.m., there will be an education forum in the church’s multipurpose room. Bring toiletries for donation to the Community Crisis Center.
The walk will be from 10:45 to 11:30 a.m. starting at the Pioneer Family Memorial at Kimball and Grove, and end with a public rally at Walton Island at 11:45 a.m.
The featured speakers include the Rev. Nathaniel Edmond of Second Baptist Church, Elgin Police Chief Jeffrey Swoboda and Ruth Petersen of the Community Crisis Center in Elgin.
The event is sponsored by Standing Against Abuse for Everyone Ministry.
