Elgin firefighters host blood drive Saturday

The Elgin Fire Department is sponsoring the “’85 Bears World Champ Blood Drive” from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, May 25, in the training room at Elgin Fire Station No. 6, 707 W. Chicago St.

The demand for blood is on a steady increase, while the new donor population is on the decline. The aging population has historically had the highest frequency of donations; however, this group of donors is moving out of the donor population and your help is needed to replenish the donor base.

To schedule your appointment, contact LifeSource at (877) 543-3768 or register online at www.lifesource.org and use sponsor code 955C. Appointments are recommended.

Proper ID is required to donate blood. A LifeSource or military ID, driver’s license, or employee badge with picture and full name are all approved forms of ID. A birth certificate along with a photo ID that includes the donor’s full name also will be accepted.
