Batavia Showstoppers qualify for national competition

The Batavia Showstoppers attended their first competition of the season on Saturday, Feb. 25 at the Paramount Theatre in Aurora.

Two groups of dancers performed, and both groups received first place awards for their routines. The advanced group placed third and fifth overall and received an All Star Award, which qualifies the girls to compete at nationals in New York.

“This is the first time the girls have qualified for nationals, which is really exciting!” said Lori McDonald, recreation supervisor in charge of dance for the Batavia Park District, “The girls and their teacher Nicole Drews have worked really hard all season so they deserve it!”

The Batavia Showstoppers are the performance group of the Batavia Park District. Their next competition will be held in April at Pheasant Run Resort in St. Charles.
