Sheyman will fight for our ideals
I am a volunteer for the Ilya Sheyman campaign for Congress in the 10th District, making phone calls to local voters in his Highland Park office in support of the primary election, March 20. After meeting Ilya at a house party and hearing him speak, I wanted to do something to help this young, progressive Democrat get elected to Congress in my district. Upon my first visit to his campaign office, I found a diverse group of volunteers — there were teenagers, people in their 20s through their 80s, both men and women, each of us there because of something Ilya Sheyman stirred in us. That something is hope — hope that things can be different, that there is a candidate who will listen to us and respond to the needs of the people, not the pocketbook.
Ilya Sheyman is the man to bring about the changes needed in our country today — supporting the American dream and the middle class. What Ilya Sheyman has created with this primary campaign is simply put: the definition of grass-roots community building. He reached out to all parts of the 10th District, one of the most racially and economically diverse in the country, and told his story.
I am thankful that this young man decided to run for Congress. Everyone I have met associated with this campaign buoys that spirit of fighting for our ideals and not just following a party line. There is a quote by Mahatma Gandhi: “Be the change you wish to see in the world.” That is what Ilay Sheyman put into action in his own life and the lives of the people volunteering for him. Please vote for Ilya. With that vote, we know we are changing our world.
