Public forum on road referendum:

Libertyville village officials will host a town-hall meeting at 7 p.m. Monday, March 5 to discuss electric aggregation and a proposed increase in property taxes to fund road repairs. The informal meeting at the Libertyville Civic Center, 135 W. Church St., will begin with brief presentations of the issues, which will appear on the March 20 primary election ballot, followed by the opportunity to ask questions. The road referendum seeks a property tax increase to pay for $20 million in bonds to fix about one third of village roads. The owner of a $300,000 home would pay an estimated $34 more per year up to a total of $135 per year. The aggregation question, which is up in many communities, seeks voter approval for the village to negotiate lower electricity rates for residents and businesses.
