Man convicted of abusing kitten sentenced

A Chicago man has been found guilty of animal cruelty for kicking his kitten at least 15 feet into air and raising his arms to signal a field goal.

Cook County Circuit Judge Tommy Brewer on Tuesday sentenced 22-year-old Percy Love to 90 days in jail after handing down the verdict.

Police officers say they were watching Love as he took a running start before kicking the cat on Jan. 23.

According to police, Love told arresting officers his cat, who he named Nightmare, is tough and he plays with it like that all the time.

Officers took custody of the cat and turned it over to an animal care facility, where it was treated for injuries.

Authorities say Love won’t get the cat back when he is released.
