Man accused of strangling 2 boys facing new charge

MADISON, Wis. — A Madison man charged with killing his girlfriend’s two young sons is facing a new charge following an incident at the Dane County Jail.

A criminal complaint says 28-year-old David Hoem was in his jail cell Monday and tossed urine at a jailer and another inmate as meal trays were gathered. Hoem was charged with assault and made an initial appearance from jail Thursday.

Hoem is also charged with strangling 3-year-old Kemaury McArthur and 4-year-old Kevin McArthur in his car last July. The State Journal says Hoem has fired five attorneys and will represent himself at his trial which begins Monday in Dane County Circuit Court.
