‘Sister Act,’ ‘Grinch’ musicals heading to Chicago

The Chicago premieres of “Sister Act” and “Dr. Seuss’ How the Grinch Stole Christmas! The Musical” have been announced for Broadway in Chicago’s fall 2012 season.

The two musicals have been included as subscription shows, while a return of “Les Miserables” has been added as an off-season special.

“Sister Act” is a 2011 Broadway musical featuring a disco and funk score by Alan Menken (“The Little Mermaid,” “Little Shop of Horrors”) adapted from the hit 1992 Whoopi Goldberg film of the same name. “Sister Act” runs from Tuesday, Nov. 13, through Sunday, Dec. 2, at the Auditorium Theatre at Roosevelt University in Chicago.

“Dr. Seuss’ How the Grinch Stole Christmas! The Musical” plays from Wednesday, Dec. 5, to Sunday, Dec. 16, at Chicago’s Cadillac Palace Theatre. It previously had two wildly successful holiday season runs on Broadway in 2006 and 2007.

“Les Miserables” will play Chicago’s Cadillac Palace Theatre from Tuesday, Nov. 13, to Sunday, Dec. 2. For more information, visit broadwayinchicago.com.
