Community college in Warsaw, Ind.,reopens after suicide
WARSAW, Ind. — Classes have started at Ivy Tech Community College in Warsaw following a man’s suicide in a school parking lot after police say he shot and critically wounded his former wife.
Ivy Tech spokesman Jeff Fanter says classes resumed at noon, four hours later than normal.
The Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department says the woman drove to a convenience store in Leesburg, 45 miles southeast of South Bend, shortly after 5:30 a.m. Monday. The woman ran inside, asking for help, but the man followed her and shot her in the shoulder before fleeing.
Police found the man in his pickup truck in the Ivy Tech parking lot shortly afterward. He died from with a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head.
A Fort Wayne hospital is treating the woman. Names haven’t been released.
