Wis. man missing after crash found dead

EMERALD GROVE, Wis. — Searchers have found the body of a Schofield man who had been missing since a minivan crash.

Rock County sheriff’s Sgt. Josh Lund says a search dog Sunday found the body of 36-year-old Lee Vesely in a partially wooded tree line 460 feet from the crash.

Vesely crashed a minivan into a tree early Thursday on U.S. Highway 11/14.

Deputies checked the area and couldn’t find Vesely because his body had been covered by snow. Snowmobiles searched for him Friday and Saturday.

Lund tells the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel Vesely had called his cousin after the accident, asking for help, but insisted that the cousin not call police. Lund says there’s no evidence that Vesely had been drinking.

An autopsy is scheduled Monday. Foul play is not suspected.
